PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Student Intern program at Union Bank has a reputation for providing college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and bank employees.
The paid intern positions are full-time (40 hours/week during regular business hours) during the summer. The length of the internship is 12 weeks and can extend beyond that time depending on business needs, project requirements, and intern availability.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This Los Angeles based position is with the Foreign Exchange (FX) department of Union Bank. FX is seeking an eager undergrad student to work full-time during the summer beginning at 7am each day.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The FX intern will be responsible for compiling daily and weekly FX commentaries and rate sheets to be distributed via email to external customers.
The intern will receive training in FX and have the opportunity to handle small transactions, open and rollover Foreign Currency Time Deposits, and may have the opportunity to price FX Derivatives.
Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Preparing FX profitability reports for internal distribution
- Analyzing and preparing customer profitability data
- Additional projects as available
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is a currently enrolled college student (rising Junior, Senior, or first year graduate student) with a minimum of 3.0 GPA that will complete their degree requirements in winter 2014 or later.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working on a fast-paced foreign exchange trading floor and be available to begin work at 7am.
You should have a general knowledge of international financial markets and a desire to work in the foreign exchange industry. Additional requirements include:
- Undergraduate student in their Junior year or graduate level student
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills
- Strong computer skills including internet research and use of Microsoft Office (excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organization, time management and attention-to-detail abilities.
- Communication skills are extremely important in this position and you must be able to conduct a professional dialogue clearly and concisely.
- Interest in F/X, analysis, web development and project management.
- Previous intern or work experience is a plus!
