A PhD position is available in the laboratory of Chang Liu at Zentrum für Molekularbiologie der Pflanzen (ZMBP) in University of Tübingen. This position remains open until it is filled; the contract is for 3 years (including an initial 6-month probation period) with possibility to extend. The salary and benefits are based on the German public service TV-L pay scale and are commensurate with training and experience.
Our lab, which officially starts in ZMBP from 1st September 2015, focuses on investigating the 3D-chromatin structure in plants, as well as its biological meaning in terms of transcriptional regulation in response to developmental cues and environmental changes. From a genome structure point of view, by combining high throughput sequencing, computing and modern molecular biology approaches, much of our work has been focused on integrative genome-wide analysis on the interplay among chromatin folding, transcriptome, and epigenetic marks. Nowadays we are able to study chromatin structure at an unprecedented resolution, and our recently findings in Arabidopsis thaliana chromatin packing have revealed many unique properties. We welcome talented and motivated people to further explore this emerging field with us.
- If you wish to focus more on molecular biology, you will handle projects we have recently launched, which employ a broad spectrum of modern molecular techniques to address biological questions related to chromatin looping. Having experience on 3C, FISH, ChIP, and confocal microscopy is an advantage.
- If you wish to focus more on computational biology, you are expected to handle and integrate large-scale genomics data we newly generated, thus experience with UNIX, R, Python or Perl is essential. Having experience on ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, BS-seq, Hi-C, ChIA-PET or polymer modeling is an advantage.
