Two PhD scholarships and several postdoc and research assistant positions in machine learning and data mining are available in the school of Computer Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Successful applicants will join the research group led by Dr. Sinno Jialin Pan.
For the PhD/postdoc/RA positions, the research topics would be machine learning in general and/or its applications to social media anlytics, pervasive computing, Natural Language Processing, medical data analytics, and etc.

Dr. Sinno Jialin Pan is a Nanyang Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Prior to join NTU, he was a scientist and Lab Head of text analytics with the Data Analytics Department at Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Singapore. He was also an adjunct assistant professor at the School of Computer Engineering at NTU (Jun-Nov 2014), and the Department of Computer Science at National University of Singapore (Apr. 2013 - Nov. 2014), respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2010. His research keyword is transfer learning, which is a relatively new paradigm in machine learning/aritifical intelligence.
His current research interests include machine learning, especially transfer learning, and its applications to sensor-based data mining, text mining, sentiment analysis, software engineering and medical data analytics.
