Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Working at home, using computers or telephones is better than working in the office.

As the rapid development of technology, more and more convenience has been brought to human. In terms of working, many employees are able to work at home with the assistance of computers and telephones. Although benefits from this working method cannot be ignored, I subscribe to the notion that it is more appropriate to work in the office than at people's houses.

First and foremost, employers find it more readily to manage subordinates who work on their assignments in the office. For instance, employees in Samsung Electronics are required to work in the offices which is meticulously designed. Workers in different departments are assigned to different offices, and in each office people specializing in a certain field, such as software or hardware, sit close to each other. Under this circumstance, by just stepping into one particular office, bosses are capable of communicating with the workers in the same field at a time. They may give some notices to workers, or supervise whether workers are developing products with serious attitude and high efficiency. In addition, workers can report the problems and achievements to the managers immediately. In this way, employees are managed effectively by the employers, which contributes to the fame and quality of products of Samsung. Therefore, office working is better for managements while working at home just causes trouble.

Simultaneously, it is more possible for workers to strengthen the unity if they do jobs in office for a long period of time. While a employee working at his house is like one solitary stick, workers in one office resemble a dozen of sticks gathering together. One seperated stick is likely to fracture by two hands. However, the gathering sticks cannot be easily broken by a person's hands. Similarly, it is hard for a person at home to work with strong belief and perseverance because no one is supporting him. Nevertheless, in the office, workers are inspired by each other when they watch others devoting themselves. At the same time, their unity is strengthened by frequent communication and a common goal. As a result, the unity serves as strong power to the corporation if the employees work in the office.

Last but not least, some people argue that working at home is so relaxing that it provides freedom for workers to be more creative and efficient. Yet by contrast, it significantly lowers the efficiency. According to a recent survey by Columbia University in the USA, 76.1% of the interviewees admit that they tend to be distracted when working at home by some factors, such as computer games, TV programs or taking a nap. Consequently, due to various distractions, people working at home become harmful to the benefits of certain company, when those working in the office don't.

In conclusion, companies are supposed to choose a working method for workers to become more competitive. Since working in the office is handy for management, aimed at strong unity and high efficiency, it is remarkably better to finish tasks in the office than at home.
