Since the industrial revolution began, the environment has been damaged gradually by human beings all the time. Not until two decades ago did some pioneers start to take relevant measures to save the planet. Although some people argue that individuals can hardly do anything for this complicated problem, I subscribe to the notion that there exist some meaningful approaches in which we make our contribution within our ability.

First and foremost, it is our responsibility to deal with some details carefully in our daily life, which will facilitates environmental protection. It will make sense if everyone takes public transportation more frequently and becomes aware of sorting out trash. While every single effort is like rain drops from the sky, the ultimate benefit resembles the sea. Once rain drops are accumulated in channels, they form streams naturally. As they flow forward continuously, branches of streams meet each other, becoming a river. In the same mechanism, hundreds of rivers flow into a certain large area, where a sea emerges. Similarly, while endeavor from each person seems too tiny to work, but critically it can be done easily without too much time and effort. However, when effects add up, they are about to have a greatly positive influence to environmental protection. Therefore, such simple actions can be taken for nearly everyone to address some problems of environment.

Simultaneously, joining certain organizations is another appropriate way for individuals to devote to protection. These organizations are universally so systematic and professional that even additionally members can be trained as protecters. For instance, the World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF) is the largest and most renowned organization for environmental protection. It is able to raise worldwide funds and make good use of them to better the ecosystem. Furthermore, volunteers are extremely welcome and they can participate in various activities. Due to the devotion from volunteers all over the world, hundreds of wetlands have been successfully restored and the forest coverage rate has been increasing in the planet these years. Under this circumstance, people who take part in activities by these organizations are capable of improving the environment as well.

Last but not least, some people hold the view that since the government is powerful enough to deal with complex environmental problems, citizens don't have to do anthing. Nevertheless, I believe that citizens are supposed to give the government some suggestions. According to a recently survey by Columbia University in the USA, 76% of the interviewees say that they ever gave suggestion to local officials about environmental problems. Some even point out that because the government is not likely to supervise everywhere, it may depend on citizens to report some problems as well as solutions to them. As a consequence, advice can be provided by individuals for the government to solve problems.

In conclusion, as pollution gets more and more severe, everyone does have something to do. If one chooses to take simple actions in daily life, join an organization or offer the government some advice, the environment is going to be more and more beautiful.
