There are two RA openings for PhD students in EECS starting from Spring or Fall 2016.
The student is expected to perform research under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Peng with the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Louisiana State University. (http://www.ece.lsu.edu/lpeng). The research areas include multi-core and many-core processor architectures, GPUs, and big data analytics.
Prof. Peng's group has published papers in top-tiered journals (IEEE Trans. on Computers, IEEE Trans. on VLSI, IEEE Trans. Dependable and Secure Computing) and conferences (ACM/IEEE ISCA, IEEE HPCA, ACM Sigmetrics, ACM/IEEE DAC, etc). The research of Prof. Peng has been funded by national and state agencies including NSF and Department of Energy. The job market for Prof. Peng's students is very good. During the PhD study, students have had internship opportunities from Intel and national labs. PhDs graduated from Prof. Peng's group obtained jobs from Intel and AMD. A PhD graduate has recently become assistant professor in University of Texas at San Antonio.
The selection criteria are listed as follows:
1. BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required; An MS degree is preferred;
2. Strong programming skills in C/C++ is required;
3. Background and experience in either software (Linux/Unix kernel or virtual machines), embedded system, or hardware (Verilog/VHDL) is preferred.
