A Ph.D student position with financial aid (TA/RA) is open in the department
of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Merced.

We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated candidates who are passionate and experienced in mass and energy transport and conversion.  Research areas include thermal management, solar water desalination, energy storage for transportation and electric grid, mesoscale transport modeling and simulations,  and mass/
energy transport  in porous materials.    Background in mechanical engineering, thermal sciences, aerospace engineering, electronic engineering, chemical engineering, applied mathematics and prior experiences in one or more of these areas are highly desirable.
