Dr. Quanquan Gu is an Assistant Professor (Starting in 2015) in Department of Systems and Information Engineering at University of Virginia. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014. Before that, He obtained his B.E. and M.S. degrees from Tsinghua University in 2007 and 2010 respectively. His research mainly focuses on machine learning, high-dimensional statistical inference, data mining and optimization. He has published over 20 papers in NIPS, KDD, UAI, AISTATS, IJCAI, AAAI, ECML/PKDD, ICDM, SDM, etc.
He has two Ph.D. positions available starting in Fall 2015, which will be supported by research assistant fellowship.
