Two PHD positions are available in the machine learning and optimization group at Department of Computer Science, University of Rochester.
The machine learning and optimization group in University of Rochester is looking for strongly motivated students (Ph.D., Postdoc) to work with Dr. Ji Liu (Webpage:http://www.cs.rochester.edu/u/jliu/). His research interests include a broad scope of machine learning, optimization, and their applications in other areas such as computer vision, data mining, and data analysis. His recent research focus is on asynchronous parallel optimization, sparse learning (compressed sensing) theory and algorithm, online learning, abnormal event detection, and feature / pattern extraction in bio image analysis. His research philosophy emphasizes fundamental contributions in methodology and theory.
Students with solid math/stat background and strong motivation are especially encouraged to apply. Research experiences in machine learning, optimization, computer vision, data mining, or other related areas and top publications are bonus for qualification, but not mandatory.
