The Department of Chemistry is a rising star in the nation that runs a strong research program with annual extramural funding exceeding six million dollars, with a hundred Ph.D. graduate students and about 30+ master students as well as 36 postdoctoral associates. Atlanta, which hosted the 1996 Olympic Game, is a metropolis that is fun to live, with year-long comfortable weather and numerous international supermarkets scattered throughout neighborhoods in the city. As the main hub and headquarters of Delta Airlines, it is easy to get around to anywhere in the world, too.

6.导师(课题组)介绍
The Liu Laboratory is a well-established group in the metalloprotein chemistry and biochemistry field. The current lab crew consists of 5 American students (1 black 4 white), 1 Japanese, and 4 Chinese (all are newly admitted in 2014 – we have just graduated four) students, a postdoctoral associate, and a visiting scholar. Within the past 12 months, the Liu Lab has received three major federal grants (one NSF and 2 NIH). Thus, the laboratory is undergoing a significant expansion. We invite outstanding undergraduates or master students to apply for financially fully supported graduate positions (up to 4 in 2015) to pursue a Ph.D. degree. Our laboratory is also actively searching for outstanding postdoctoral associates. We perform molecular, structural, spectroscopic and cellular biology studies, with emphasis on protein chemistry and biochemistry. We study transition metal-containing proteins and their biomedical relevance, using a combination of chemical, biochemical, structural and spectroscopic means. 7. 学历及资质
Chemistry B.S. degree with outstanding transcripts – all chemistry areas are acceptable. GRE (general) is required. TOEFL score should be greater than 90 (although the cut off line set by the university is 80, our average is around 95). 雅思 is acceptable (>7.0). Master degree training with research experience is a plus but not required.
