Saarland University, Germany
一、心房纤维化模型中的钙信号的变化及其机理;
二、干细胞诱导的心肌细胞中EC-Coupling的重建及其机制;

Professor: Prof. Dr. Peter Lipp
We have two major research areas in our lab:
1) Cardiac physiology/pathology. We focus on cardiac disease like the hypertrophy, heart failure, and characterise the physiological/pathological changes during the development of cardiac disease. For example, we used trans-aortic banding to induce cardiac hypertrophy, and utilise imaging/electrophysiological/molecular biological techniques to characterise the changes underlying the diseases. As a very common technique, gene knockout animals are also heavily involved in our research.
Technologically, we mainly use confocal microscopes and patch clamps to profile the changes in cardiac diseases, supplemented with necessary molecular analysis. Large scale of imaging processing / data analysis, in a common word, computer-aided data processing is a common requirement in our lab.
2) Molecular biology concerning Protein Kinase C (PKC).

The Institute for Molecular Cell Biology hosting the Research Centre for Molecular Imaging and Screening is an internationally renowned institute at the Saarland University, Medical School that is primary interested in understanding signalling involved in human cardiac diseases. Its particular research emphasises calcium signalling and signalling via protein kinase C. In a team of international researchers we approach this in a highly interdisciplinary way by applying vastly different techniques including ultra high speed confocal imaging, patch clamp of cardiac myocytes, viral gene delivery to cells and whole animals, echocardiography and telemetric analysis of animal models. Our institute is internationally and nationally highly connected as a partner in various collaborative and clinical research centres funded by the DFG, BMBF and EU.
We are actively seeking for a PhD student with a good appreciation of cellular fluorescence imaging to participate in a research project on subcellular calcium signalling in cardiac myocytes from mice and human reprogrammed pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derived cardiac myocytes using ultra high speed confocal imaging approaches.
We offer a PhD at the forefront of physiology and imaging technologies and participation in a highly motivated, very active and interconnected international research team. The position will be for 3 years.
