Dr. Nikolla’s research group is seeking self-motivated Ph.D. students to conduct research in the area of heterogeneous electrocatalysis, more specific on utilizing Density Functional Theory calculations to study surface reactions and development of catalysts for electrochemical energy generation and storage systems. The positions are available for Fall 2014 and/or Spring 2015. Successful candidates will have full support through scholarship/fellowship. The group also provides a stimulating and collaborative environment with opportunity to attend conferences and meetings in academia and industry.

The potential candidate is expected to have a MS/BS degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials science. A good background in physical chemistry/solid state physics/mathematics is desirable. Prior experience with computational tools such as Density Functional Theory and Molecular Dynamics Simulations is a plus.
