An associate professor (http://www.bme.ufl.edu, http://www.uky.edu/~lya227) in University of Florida will start to recruit Ph. D students immediately starting from both Spring and Fall, 2015. Many fully sponsored Ph. D research assistantships are available in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Florida (UFL is top the ranked university, public school ranking No. 14, http://colleges.usnews.rankingsa ... ersities/top-public, and only 1.30 hours to Orlando, Disney, etc.). These positions start immediately and will be open and soon be filled, so please contact me as soon as possible. My research areas are focused on computer vision, machine learning, biomedical image analysis, and imaging informatics.
These positions provide full financial support including complete tuition coverage and monthly stipend. We are seeking for Ph. D candidates who meet the following requirements:
1. Preferences will be given to the candidate who had already earned his/her M. S. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering. Students from all these majors are welcome to apply as long as you are self-motivated and good with computation. Really outstanding undergraduate student will also be considered. Transfer students from other institutes are welcome to contact me directly.
2. Good GPA in major courses, especially mathematics, computer science, and biomedical engineering related courses.
3. STRONG programming skill in C++ and Matlab; experience with ITK, VTK, OpenCV, OpenGL, etc is a strong plus.
4. Pass the English requirements for GRE and TOFEL required by University of Florida. However, please notice that I select students based on research potential instead of test scores. Exceptional students who demonstrate strong research potential are encouraged to discuss with me if they have relatively lower English scores.
You will work independently but receive detailed instructions and help. You will receive summer internship opportunities in research oriented company, such as IBM T. J. Watson, Siemens, GE, GOOGLE, and Microsoft, etc. during your senior years. You are encouraged to attend international conference and present your research work. For mutual benefits, I expect both strong publication records and plenty of industry experience after your graduation.
