Background: The University of California, Riverside (UCR) is a public research university and one of the 10 general campuses of the University of California System. UCR’s electrical engineering program is ranked top 50 in the U.S. UCR has one of the best energy research facility in the United States. With more than 10 million dollar donation, Winston Chung Global Energy Center at the Environmental Research & Technology started the sustainable integrated grid initiative that allows the students and researchers to develop improved energy systems for the future. The system incorporates 4 MW of photovoltaics, 2 MW of energy storage, smart grid protocols and a 20 unit city-wide electric transportation system.
I am seeking self-motivated and creative Ph.D. candidate to conduct research in the following areas, Big Data Analytics in Power System, Smart Grid Technology, Renewable Integration, Energy Forecasting and Electricity Market. The successful candidate could start as early as Jan 2015. Preference of Research Assistant positions and Fellowship positions will be given to candidates who have earned a M.S. degree in power engineering. However, outstanding candidates with B.S. degree will also be considered for direct Ph.D. program.
