The Department of Biomedical Sciences(BMS) was recently established by the University to develop strategic growth areas of life sciences. The Department aims to become one of the leading centers in the Asia Pacific region specializing in professional education and cutting-edge research in targeted areas of biomedical sciences. Current faculty interests span molecular, cellular and systems study of neuroscience, regenerative biology, cancer biology, and the development of biomicrosystems and nanomedicine.
Ph.D. Fellowship
The Department has a number of fellowships to support postgraduate studies towards Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences.This is an interdisciplinary program open to outstanding graduate students who wish to conduct state-of-the-art basic, clinical and translational life sciences research.The Program is student-centered and led by faculty who are accessible, engaged and committed to ensuring that our postgraduate students reach their full potential in research, teaching and professional development.The studentswill be enrolled in CityU’sSchool of Graduate Studies and participate in research programs leading to Ph.D. degrees in one of the following areas:
o Cancer Stem Cells and Cancer Biology
o Stem Cells and Regenerative Biology
o Molecular &SystemicNeuroscience
o Biomicrosystems and Nanomedicine
Eachfellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$180,000 (approximately US$23,000) and a conference travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a period of up to three years. For awardees needing more than three years to complete their PhD studies, additional support may be provided.

We invite applications from qualified candidates with a Bachelor degree or higherin life sciences, medicine, chemistry, and biomedical engineering.
